Create New Subscriber gets Extension from Previous

When a new subscriber is created and an extension is added for the new subscriber, he is given a current subscriber's extension. 2 people now have the same extension. If you go in and change either person's extension, both people get the extension changed. I run your orphan finder script and it fixes the problem, but this is the third time this issue has appeared. I learned from an administrator that they had changed the user's extension in Call Manager and then in Unity when this problem arose. What would be the correct way to change a user's extension?<br><br>Matt Slaga <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif"><br>TimeBridge Technologies<br><font color=red>MCNE</font color=red>, <font color=blue>MCSE2k-4.0-3.51</font color=blue>, <font color=purple>CCNA</font color=purple>, <font color=purple>CIPT2.0</font color=purple>

There's nothing special about changing the DTMF_ID of a user... doing it through the SA should be fine. I think this sounds like it might be related to a problem that was fixed in 2.4.5 build 73 (what version are you at?).

The deal was the subscriber template was getting removed when an error cropped up during subscriber create (i.e. the NT minimum password length was longer than the default NT password in the template). If the subscriber template object is missing, it'll grab the first available primary call handler in the collection and "copy" it (bad).

If you open DOHPropTest you'd probably see that both mail users are pointing to the same call handler instead of their own copies. You can run DBWalker (off my web site) and it should flag this error as well. If they share the same primary call handler that would explain why changing the settings on one affects the other.

The way to fix it is to rebuild the subscriber template. This can be done by reapplying the database DCS scripts using ConfigMgr. If you can verify this is the scenario I can walk you through that.

Unfortunately, I do not have the DOHPropTest password of the day, but I ran your DBWalker app and it showed errors with the ch_defaulttemplate and with a user, just as you thought. Please walk me through reapplying the database DCS scripts.

Oh yes, almost missed this. Unity 2.4.5(66).
