Cutting in and out

Can someone direct me to reading about a problem of, cutting in and out, during a Voip conversation? Accompanying each cut out, is a quick "bzzzt" sound.

When this occurs it only affects one side of the conversation, and the affected side doesn't notice anything wrong, they don't hear the cutting out because it's only occurring as they speak.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Cutting in and out

check to see if Voice-Activity-Detection (VAD) is disabled. Sometimes VAD will think it hears silence and it will not send any packets across the network. VAD is often configured when users need to conserve bandwidth on the network.

Re: Cutting in and out

Thank you for your suggestion. I don't know how to check the the settings for VAD, but will pass this on to my manager, along with the link you posted. I appreciate your help.
