DC Directory showing "QUIESCED"

Periodically, I see the following event in the Event Viewer regarding the DC Directory service:

Event Type: Warning

Event Source: DCDirectory

Event Category: Directory Operation

Event ID: 7837

Date: 1/7/2003

Time: 22:06:17

User: N/A

Computer: MARS

Description:

(DSA OPERATOR(38) Proc 160, Sev 14)

DC Directory Server has been QUIESCED, all modification

operations will be rejected. Interrogation operations

are unaffected.

Within a couple of minutes, I will see a similar message saying the DC Directory server has been "UNQUIESCED". Can anybody tell me what is actually going on here and if these messages represent a problem? Thanks!

Re: DC Directory showing "QUIESCED"

Hello,

QUIESCED means that DCD is in a paused state, it is a normal msg which appears during DCD data sync. They don't ususally represent problems unless it's appearing very very frequently.
