Definity PBX and Cisco gateways

Hi,

I have a Definity PBX connecting to PSTN. This box has an IP Ethernet port available. Can we connect this PBX to any Cisco Voice gateway (H323), via Ethernet, to route voice traffic across Frame Relay cloud as toll bypass ? Thanks for all inputs.

I would probably have to say no. The ethernet port is probably for management or CTI or something else and I seriously doubt it's a voice gateway.

Sir,

Thank you very much for your response. Here is what we have:

Definity--10/100---L3 switch--gateway---FR---remote

I'm thinking about the Cisco gateway as H323 device to route voice traffic to remote site via Frame relay network. Can Definity speak to Cisco gateway via H323 protocol ? Thanks again.

The way this is done most of the time is by connecting these two devices through a T1/PRI connection. You could use FXS/FXO/E&M ports if you don't need 23 ports. I know that Avaya is involved in VoIP, so there may be a VoIP card that can be put into the Definity as an H.323 gateway, but I am not sure. You will have to talk to Avaya about that. Hope this helps.
