DHCP Requirements for IP Phones

Does any one know what RFC the phones use. We have a deployment for one of our customers that has road agents working from home. The 7960 work fine on a DSL network but on the cable network they do not get an IP Address. If I switch the MAC address from the phone to my note book then put the DHCP IP address back manualy it works until the DHCP address expires.

(Yes we do not have QoS on either network)

Re: DHCP Requirements for IP Phones

So your notebook on cable gets an IP address from your DHCP server but a phone doesn't?

Was thinking it may need an ip helper-address on the cable connection, but if your laptop works it's not that.

what do you see in the DHCP server logs? Does the request come in across the cable connection?
