Mainly features and number of phones supported by each product. You can think of Callmanager as a replacement for your enterprise class PBX, while CME replaces a key system.

Hi Mohammed,

Here is a little addition to Sankar's good post;

Cisco CallManager Express Description

Cisco CallManager Express is a feature-rich entry-level IP telephony solution that is integrated directly into Cisco IOS software. Cisco CallManager Express allows small business customers and autonomous small enterprise branch offices to deploy voice, data, and IP telephony on a single platform for small offices, thereby streamlining operations and lowering network costs.

From this doc;

Cisco CallManager Express: Overview

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps5207/products_feature_guide_chapter09186a00802d2476.html#wp2169372

Cisco CallManager serves as the software-based, call-processing component of the Cisco IP Telephony Solution for the Enterprise part of Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data). The Cisco IP Telephony Applications Server provides a high-availability server platform for Cisco CallManager call processing, services, and applications.

The Cisco CallManager system extends enterprise telephony features and functions to packet telephony network devices such as IP phones, media processing devices, voice-over-IP (VoIP) gateways, and multimedia applications. Additional data, voice, and video services such as unified messaging, multimedia conferencing, collaborative contact centers, and interactive multimedia response systems interact through Cisco CallManager open telephony application program interface (API).

Cisco CallManager provides signaling and call control services to Cisco integrated telephony applications as well as third-party applications

Hope this helps!
