Different Codecs for two regions!

I have set up two IP Phones to belong to two different regions, where region to region communication is set up for G.729 codec. Everything works fine but, how do I know that only 24kbps of my bandwidth are being used? How would I know that G.729 is being used instead of G.711?

And, is there a way to enable header compression on the call manager, or is this a router function only?

Thanks a million guys.

Easy to test.

Make a call between the two phones, on the ip phone at either end press the "i" (information) button twice and it will display the codec.
