directly accessing a mailbox
Hi there,

We are looking for a way to forward a call to a Unity
mailbox without ringing the physical phone and invoking the Forward on No Answer...an "API" or other
technique that would enable the Unity subscriber mailbox to
be "directly addressable" by an automated IVR system. We would like to bypass the Unity autoattendant. Is this possible? Thanks!

There's no exposed API to do this.

The only way at your disposal is to dial the auto attendant and call the extension followed by #2 to over ride the transfer sequence.

As mentioned in several other posts out here you can create routing rules that allow you to dial a number that always takes you to the opening greeting (as opposed to trying to log the calling number in as a subscriber or something) which will gurantee your IVR system will always get the call into a known state before dialing the extension<#2>.

I'm unsure of exactly what you're hoping for here... you don't want to call the auto attenant and don't want the switch to have to be involved I assume... you just want a way to somehow hand a call off to Unity and tell it to go right to a particular person's greeting without passing down DTMF? That would have to be some custom development to make that happen...
