Make sure the aVCsGateway service is killed AND the little tray application is stopped - both those will aggressivley log back into SQL when it's up if they're left running. The latest DiRT restore SHOULD kill both... if not, let me know.
We left MSSQLServer and aVCsGateway "stopped" for about 15 minutes, than we restarted MSSQLServer again and this time aVCsGateway stayed stopped. Clicked OK to proceed on the Restore tool, and it this tiem it went through fine.
