%DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT:

We have a customer with a Cisco 2620XM running IOS version 12.3(14)T4 and they are experiencing the following error messages in the router log:

.Feb 20 13:20:51: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:1: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

.Feb 20 13:21:59: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:2: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

.Feb 20 13:22:11: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:3: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

.Feb 20 13:22:18: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:4: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

Feb 20 13:25:34: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:2: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

Feb 20 13:25:45: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:3: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

Feb 20 13:26:05: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:5: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

Feb 20 13:30:29: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:5: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

Feb 20 15:51:18: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT: DSP timeout on DSP 1/1:6: event 0x6, DSMP timed out, while waiting for statistics from the DSP. DSMP State = S_DSMP_COLLECTING_STATS

They have 3 PVDM2-16 DSP modules on a NM-HDV2-2T1/E1 card.

We have tested the DSP Keepalive Status:

DSP Keepalive Status Display:

=============================

DSP 1 is Alive, State: 4, Keepalive Sent: 290083, Skip 290086

DSP 2 Not Exist

DSP 3 Not Exist

DSP 4 Not Exist

DSP 5 is Alive, State: 4, Keepalive Sent: 290084, Skip 290085

DSP 6 Not Exist

DSP 7 Not Exist

DSP 8 Not Exist

DSP 9 is Alive, State: 4, Keepalive Sent: 290084, Skip 290085

DSP 10 Not Exist

DSP 11 Not Exist

DSP 12 Not Exist

DSP 13 Not Exist

DSP 14 Not Exist

DSP 15 Not Exist

DSP 16 Not Exist

And have also tried resetting the DSPs via:

test dsp device 1 1 reset

test dsp device 1 5 reset

but the messages still occur. We have found a couple of bugs on CCO relating to this, but it appears as though they have already been fixed in our customers version.

Bug IDs I've found are:

CSCsb14481

CSCsa72951.

But these have been fixed in a previous IOS release. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this or what could be done to try and resolve it?

Re: %DSMP-3-DSP_TIMEOUT:

well with dsp timeouts what happens is the dsp either crashes or goes to sleep. and then it recovers, so if you had a call up on that dsp it will drop, or go mute.

Try bug - CSCef90360
