DTMF relay with CCm and 3810

Having a DTMF issue here. Running CCM 3.1 with 6608 for PSTN. We also have various 3810's at different branches connecting via analog or T1 to Nortel PBX's. The DTMF relay (once connected) is not operating. Although the digits are passed successfully to place the call, DTMF for voicemail operations etc. are not working.

The 3810 is different (slightly) than 26xx series, especially in the DTMF-RELAY command whereby there is ONLY a dtmf-relay cisco-rtp option.

Here's a copy of the config: (Any help is appreciated!)

Re: DTMF relay with CCm and 3810

It seems there is a bug with the CCM 3.1 and the 6608 line card w.r.t the DTMF relay. The one CSCdu13710 is the same as you have explained. You can get more details on this in the bug tool kit.I found some more bugs with CCM 3.1 w.r.t DTMF relay.

CSCdv88880

CSCdr86234

CSCdx18237

Might be, the problem will be solved with an upgrade on CCM.

Re: DTMF relay with CCm and 3810

It's not a bug on the Cat6k. The limitation is with the 3810's - the older style VCM (Voice Compression Module) based on the TIC542 DSP's did not have the CPU grunt to do H245 style DTMF relay. From the IOS release notes -

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/120newft/120limit/120xk/1207xk/voip3810.htm#xtocid1950115

Note: The h245-alphanumeric and h245-signal DTMF settings on an MC310 concentrator require a high-performance compression module (HCM) and are not supported on an MC3810 concentrator with a non-HCM voice compression module (VCM).

You will need HCM DSP modules to run H245 based DTMF Relay
