OK this question is related to a dual CCM and Lucent Definity Integration. In a traditional Definity integration we would connect the Unity through a Calista and a fixed number of analog ports. Likewise the CCM would connect via a set of uOne ports. If our Definity and CCM are connected via a couple of PRIs, could we forego the analog ports and use the uOne ports to access Unity? Logic says to me that the Definity should still generate a DCS message destined for the Calista given the user dialed the VM extension. Furthermore the Unity could still generate a MDA destined for the Calista for extensions that exist on the Definity. The only real difference is instead of routing the audio across the analog ports we would route it across the PRI to the IP side of the telephony network. Is this a complete pipe dream or could this work.

The real reason for this brainstorm is that our client is out of analog ports and chassis space in the Definity. They don't want to extend the rack just to integrate to voice mail. So, Jeff (Borg) let me know what you think!

Sincerely,

Damien Bowersock
Consultant, Calence Inc.

This shouldn't work... The lines going into the Calista box (that's sending us serial packets to tell us what's going on with the inbound calls from the PBX) needs to know the station numbers of the lines going into Unity. When we get a serial packet it tells us "you have an inbound call on port X that's forwarding from station Y for reason Z". Then the incoming call on port X is handled accordingly. In your configuration that wont be the case... the Calista wont be able to monitor traffic on the PRI trunks.
The short answer is that you don't.... That isn't entirely true while at
the same time it kind of is, but for the most part you don't configure
the softkeys. You enable or disable them via TCL. Here is the long
answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
