E1 CAS (DC5A E&M)

Are there any configurations available for connecting 2600/3600 routers to a PBX running E1 CAS, DC5A. (U.K. Type 5 E&M). I am using DS0- group X timeslot X type ?????.

Hi,

I am working on more or less the same kind of scenario, and still have some confusions.................. Have you been able to get hold of some information related to your desired setup. Will really appreciate if you could give me some input that might help me too.

LOTTTTTTTTTTTs of thanks

O.K.,

Here is what I discovered,

Most common UK version is DC5A , sometimes also called SSDC5A and E&M Version 5. (Cisco name this signalling version as MELCAS) I have managed to configure a 2600 router using CAS E&M to a Siemens ISDX (Realitis) by using the "DS0 group" statement under the Controller E1 1/0 interface. It looks as if the PBX is set for immediate start arrangements.

Cheers.

Re: E1 CAS (DC5A E&M)

Great !!Thanks a LOT for getting back:

I am trying to connect a 3640 having NM-HDV with VWIC-1MFT-E1 to a NorTel Meridian. The simple configuration that i have done for the 3640 is like this:

controller E1 2/0

framing NO-CRC4

ds0-group 1 timeslots 1-15,17-31 type fxo-ground-start

description **** PRI Connection to NorTel Meridian

!

.

.

.

dial-peer voice 1 pots

destination-pattern 100

port 2/0:1

!

!

It is basically a call center setup, where calls from different sites will be brought to this 3640, which will forward all these calls to Meridian through VWIC connection using the above dial-peer.

Over the request of NorTel engineers I have tried chaging the type for the Channels in DS0-Group to FXO-gs, FXO-ls, E&M-imm. st, E&M-wink st.. E1 port comes up (which means CAS is working fine), but channels' information on Meridian shows errors in handshaking of channels. also calls dont get forwarded to Meridian.....

So What could be wrong as per your experience ??

Thanks once again

Re: E1 CAS (DC5A E&M)

Athar,

We could probably sort this for you, this is in an area

which we specialise in, we have a wide range of PBX`s including

Nortel PBX`s and routers in our Lab`s,and as such it`s difficult

for me to give too much "free" info.

My first suggestion though would be to try and get the config from the

Nortel PBX and find out what they have configured on the PBX. There is a wide

choice of signalling on the PBX, unless of course they are flexible and can set the PBX up to the signalling of your choice.

Second try configuring the router as

ds0-group 1 timeslots 1 type melcas immediate

ds0-group 2 timeslots 2 type melcas immediate

etc.

Third,

dial-peer voice 1 pots

destination-pattern 100

port 2/0:1

dial-peer voice 1 pots

destination-pattern 100

port 2/0:2

etc (don`t think you will need a preference statement)

p.s. I also used NM-HDV with VWIC-1MFT-E1, and it was o.k.

Hope this helps a bit,
