While configuring Channels on E1/T1, we have many different options of grouping the channels e.g.
channel-group
pri-group
DS0-group
tdm-group etc.
Can someone help me understand the difference between all those options? Can those be used interchangeably. Does each of those have specific uses? e.g. for data or for voice etc.
Thanks

A channel group is for data - it creates a virtual serial interface in the router config
A PRI group is for voice and possibly data (depending if the platform is a AS53XX/5400/58XX which can support voice and data calls) - this creates a D channel and a voice port in the config
A DS0 group is for voice - it creates a voice port in the router config
a TDM group is for TDM cross connection of timeslots between one T1 or E1 interface and another.

Thanks very much for the valuable info. Could you please give me some info on the channel-group as well?
Thanks

A channel group is a group of timeslots that passes data. When you configure it, IOS creates a virtual serial interface that you then define an IP address , encapsulation (ppp, hdlc, frame relay, x25 etc ...)
