E1 Voice in UK

hi all,

i have heard that in uk the interfaces for e1 voice connections are coax (bnc).

do i need RJ-45-to-Coax Interface Cable for an VWIC2-1MFT-E1 in UK?

and if its true, which of 2 variants:

.... RJ-45-to-Twinax Interface Cable for 120-Ohm, Balanced Connections

....RJ-45-to-BNC Interface Cable for 75-Ohm, Unbalanced Connections

greetings

Re: E1 Voice in UK

I believe you can have either BNC or rj45. We have quite an old NTE BT box it did have BNC but when we went fully IPT/ VoIP I asked the BT engineer if he could set the interface to rj45, the interface was there but not activated. He just changed the jumper settings so that interface was activated for rj45.

see the bottom of this link for more info.

Re: E1 Voice in UK

Mehmet,

Older BT voice circuits were presented on BNC & the signalling type was typically DASS2.

Any new circuits will be ISDN30e & will be presented on RJ45.

If you are putting a VG onto an existing circuit make sure you confirm the existing signalling before you get to site. BT quote about 10 working days to get a "regrade" from DASS2 => ISDN30e.

HTH,

Paul.
