Echo Cancellation

PSTN----Mgcp_GW(ec64)---VoipServer(EC_Extend)

If my mgcp gateway has echo cancellation at 64 and another Voip Server has extend echo cancellation of 350ms, is that ok?

What is the effect if I increase the MGCP GW from 64 EC to 128 EC?

I am curious if both points have EC turned on what is the effect?

Thx

Re: Echo Cancellation

do you have a dedicated ECAN module in your router? if not, you cannot set EC to 128ms, only 64ms without the ECAN.

echo cancellers are components that face the PSTN side of the gateway. if you have two echo cancellers turned on two differnt gateways, this is fine. those gateways will be facing the PSTN. if they are not PSTN, analog gateways, they do not need EC turned on as digital voice traffic does not leak electically.
