Echo - Mainly on Long Distance Calls

I'm getting occasional echo using 2 Cisco 2651 gateways. It seems most common during long distance calls.

We haven't rolled out IP phones to every desk so for the time being, our PBX interfaces to 1 Cisco 2651 router via dual PRI. This router does MGCP to another 2651 that interfaces to the PSTN.

Any suggestions as where to start looking to resolve the echo would be appreciated.

Thanks,

= K

Check out this document on troubleshooting echo problems between IP Phones and IOS gateways.

Re: Echo - Mainly on Long Distance Calls

Did you use the echo-cancel coverage command, and shut no-shut the PRI interface?

Check out this link:

It explains echo and how to counter it.

I used the following on my voice-port and it has been good for the past 48 hours.

echo-cancel enable

echo-cancel coverage 16
