when you create a user that you want to have VM only, by phone and email in their inbox, while some users have true UM, for the UM users, import them from the GAL. For what I call the VM only users, use Unity to create a VM account. Give it a alias such as Jsmith-VM to differentiate it from JSmith's email account. Once this alias is created (either using the SA or directly in AD), and associated with a Unity account, hide that account in the GAL so users can't see it to send it regular email. Now John Smith can have his email from his regular account, and get his VM via the TUI.
