Email read receipts being reported as voice mail

Unity 3.0(3)
Exchange 5.5 sp4 and current hotfixes (NT 4.0 domain)

This just started happening 2-3 days ago (no system changes to Unity). What happens is Unity reports email read receipts as new voice mail. The MWI does not light up, but when you call Unity (or hit "messages" on the phone) it says "you have # new voice mail" where # is the number of read receipts that are unread/unprocessed in your Exchange inbox.

Any clues?

This is expected behavior.

Unity does not separate return receipts into their own message stack. At least not yet, but I can hope...

Since you can send a voicemail with receipt requested, voicemail messages become the lowest common denominator for receipts, so they get presented as part of the voicemail stack.

You can disable this "feature" in the registry, I recommend Jeff's Advanced Settings Tool

If you search this forum, you can probably also find the steps for doing it manually.

Yes, Unity 4.0 coming out later this year will have reciepts in their own stack. You'll have voice, fax, email and receipt stacks as seperate groups of messages. You'll also have options for ordering these stacks and the messages in each stack on a per user basis. Should make some folks happy...

I have the same thing happening with Exchange 2000, only it is any email from the Exchange "system administrator." (read recipts, recieve receipts and ...your email did not reach the following recpients)
Will the same fix help with all of those items?
Thanks,

Adjusting the registry using the Advanced Settings tools will allow you to not list read and delivery reciepts as voice mail but NDRs will still show up in your voice mail stack.
