Currently the customer is Unity 3.1 with Exchange 5.5 (Unified). The plan to upgrade their Exchange to Exchange 2003 and Unity 4.0(3). I have a few questions about this.
1.) If Unity is upgraded to 4.0(3) and configured to talk to an Exchange 2003 server (connector between 2003 and 5.5) The intention would be to then move the mailbox's over to the 2003 platform. With this configuration would Unity be able to communicate to 2003, 2000, and 5.5 message stores?
2.) There are two Unity servers that are 3.15 with Exchange 5.5 (diffrent Exchange 5.5 sites) that are networked together. If I upgrade one Unity server to 4.0(3) with E2K3 and 5.5, would the networking poriton of this stop working?
1. Yes Unity can service mailboxes on Exchange 2003/2000/5.5 servers in a mixed Exchange 2003/2000/5.5 environment.
2. Networking will stop working until both are integrated with Active Directory which occurs when you change the partner server from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 server. Once they are both integrated it will start working again without any manual intervention.
