Exchange a/c

We've installed a Unified system and need to create a subscriber that does'nt need to use email, i.e use Unity but not recieve and send messages via outlook. Whats the best way? Can I create the a/c in Unity without the exchange a/c (I could hide them from the address list).<br>What would happen if I delete the exchange a/c - would the subscriber still receive messages on the phone?<br>thanks<br><br>Jeff<br><br><br><br><br><br>

Even if the Unity subscriber does not want to use VMO for message retrieval, they'll still need an Exchange account. Exchange is used as the message store whether the messages are checked via the phone or via VMO. What version of Unity do you have? If it is one of the later versions, hiding this particular subscriber won't be a problem.

Presumably you mean 2.4.6? Yeah, you can go ahead and just hide the Exchange accounts for these users from the address book in Exchange. You can also make the creation of NT accounts for these guys optional when making them via the SA in the case these folks are not logging on to your network at all.

...and if all that registry editing seems like a great big hassle, Jeff has a utility on the answermonkey site that's a lot slicker & safer than the usual regedit tools when it comes to Unity-specific registry settings.
