Exchange DS service hogs system memory

We have a Unity server running on a MCS-7835 (Compaq DL380) that seems to have issues every 2 weeks. The DSA service creeps up to about 149Mb of memory and the Inetinfo service creeps up to about 131Mb. At about this point, the Unity services begins to stop allowing users in intermittantly. The CPU usage at this point begins to spike flat out every few seconds. The Unity version is 2.4.5(66). The AVGaen service is not started. Any ideas?

Matt Slaga
TimeBridge Technologies
MCNE, MCSE2k-4.0-3.51, CCNA, CIPT2.0

I haven't seen a system with just Unity that has the directory services stuff grow like that. Definitely sounds like someone's leaking memory somewhere...

Can you track the AV* services' memory usage by using PerfMon for me? Something really light like a sample every couple hours or something would be great. After you reboot it's normal for the AvCsMgr service to climb in memory for a day or two since the cache will grow as each subscriber calls in for the first time and the notifier does it's thing, but it should plane out and stabalize.

Assuming you don't have some other ill-behaved program on there, I'd be interested in seeing the usage of our services over time. If you see them growing consistently over the two week period, definitely contact our support guys and get a ticket open. We'll want to look at it...
