External directory database link for CME 4.0

Is it possible to link CME 4.0 with external phone directory database?

It shouldn't matter whether you have CME or CCM. Basically, when you query the corporate directory on your ip phone, it calls a service page that can be hosted anywhere. You can then configure that service page to access any LDAP directory of your choosing.

Yes, you can use an external database for your Corporate Directory on the ip phones, such as an enterprise LDAP directory. See the below link for more info:

I read the information on this link. All I see is reference to Call Manager and not CME. Any other ideas?

on your CME perform the following:

router(config)# telephony-service

router(config-telephony)# url directories "fullURLpath" (without the quotes)

save and exit.

reset your ephones and the phones should now attempt to access the "fullURLpath" setting that you input.

be sure IP or at least HTTP access is open from the router to the target where the url resides.
