Failure occurred trying to get DBNAME value from registry.

Hi guys

I got the above error message when I'm installing the Call Manager 3.3(3) on my MCS 7825H-2.2. Just bought recently.

I have done the below steps:

1. Bootup from the Disk 1 (Hardware Detection) to install the OS.

2. Install Cisco Call Manager using the Cisco CallManager Installation and Recovery CD.

3. After completed all the prompts (setting up all the passwords) and proceed the installation, it prompted an error message saying that "Failure occurred trying to get DBNAME value from registry. Aborting Cisco CallManager installation".

I have redo the step 1 again and got the same error.

Anyone has experienced it before? And what is the solution?

Thanks.

William

Re: Failure occurred trying to get DBNAME value from registry.

Hi Marina

Actually this is the new installation. Just got the mcs server and the CCM software.

CCM Software consist of:

Cisco IP Telephony Server Operating System (OS Version 2000.2.4)

Disk 1 is Hardware Detection

Disk 2 is OS/BIOS Upgrade

Disk 3 to disk 14 is Windows 2000 Server/Advanced Server OS Version 2000.2.4

Cisco CallManager Installation and Recovery (Ver. 3.3(3) Disk

Cisco CallManager Music Selections for Music on Hold (Ver. 3.1)

Cisco CallManager Publisher Upgrade Disk 1 (Ver. 3.3(3)

Cisco CallManager Subscriber Upgrade Disk 1 (Ver. 3.3(3)

Cisco Extended Services Extension Mobility and Auto Attendant (Ver. 3.1(1))

Cisco CallManager CallManager and IP Phones and Services Documentation

Thats the CDs that I received.

Basically the installation is started up with the Disk 1 and follow the instruction for the OS installation. After I done the OS installation, then I installed the CallManager from the Installation and Recovery CD and got that error message when the installation started.

Is this a new bug on the CDs that I received?

Thanks.

Best regards,

William

Re: Failure occurred trying to get DBNAME value from registry.

Hi Heather,

When you put int the CallManger installation CD, it will prompt out a windows saying something like "The same flage was detected.......", just click "No" to continue........then makesure you install the publisher first....

make sure you have copied the recover directory with the backup.ini and dbname.ini files to your new server

Re: Failure occurred trying to get DBNAME value from registry.

the problem seems to be because the dbname.ini file has the below line missing from the beginning:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

put the above line at the beginning of your file and try again, it worked for me.

good luck

john
