Fax and Cisco 7200 as a Voice gateway

I have Cisco 7200 with IOS ver. 12.1.3a.XI4 which equiped with two voice PA`s PA-VXC-2E1 those ports are connected to PBX, and one E1 multichannel PA which is connected with T1 in 3640 (it has NM-HDV module, IOS 121.2.T) VoFR used in fractional E1 line.

I have no problems with voice traffic, both digital telephones and IP phones CP7960 works ideal, but I couldn`t send faxes from 7200 side...

Fax messages from 3640 passed succesfully and configuration for routers looks workable...

Any ideas...

Re: Fax and Cisco 7200 as a Voice gateway

Hello,

It is quite possible that the correct Fax codec is being used when the 3640 originates the call, but the 7200 does not select the correct codec.

When the router detects fax tone inbound it should switch to the fax codec.

You can check to see what codec is selected by running a "show call active voice".

If there are other calls on the router this can be a bit confusing so test only with the one fax call.

Test in both directions and compare the selected codecs.

Regards,

Jeff
