Fax over IP

Are there other solutions that allow for faxing using a fax machine with DIDs without using an ata186 adapter or a faxserver? If so, what components would be needed? Currently I have Callmanager 3.1.2c, Unity 3.1.4, and 2621 w/h.323 and ios 12.2.10a.

Re: Fax over IP

For in bound faxing you can leverage the T37 capabilities of the gateways and use the free IP Fax routing service the customer applications team published a while back for Unity. You can check it out on here:

There's instructions in there that include details on what you need on the gateway, which ones can handle this and how to configure them to make this fly.

Outbound T37 still has a few wrinkles, however... for outbound faxing at the moment you'll need to use a 3rd party fax server.

Re: Fax over IP

Is there any information else where on Cisco's site regarding what gateways would support this issue?

Re: Fax over IP

In the IP Fax configuration help there's a link to a configuration document which includes this info:

The following platforms are supported, please follow the links for specific configuration instructions. The configuration guides listed for each platform discuss platform-specific IOS commands required. Note that we are only interested in the On-Ramp application. Be sure to check the memory requirements for each individual platform, as on-ramp fax support requires more memory than regular operations:

Re: Fax over IP

Thanks! So you couldn't do this on a WS-X6608-T1 card running in a cat6509 as your gateway? :(
