Not applicable

From the desktop you can fax output from just about any Windows application out there, including Auto CAD. You'll need to install the Print to Email driver (which is installed automatically with VMO) which simply sets up an alternate print driver. From within Auto CAD you choose that print driver when you go to print out your job. It'll dump it to a TIF file instead of to a printer and automatically bring up your default email reader. From there you can send it out as a fax by addressing in the format: "[FAX:Name@FaxNumber]".

From over the phone, this wont work. The application in question needs to be on the box doing the conversion from the raw file to the TIF file. The rasterization is done by using OLE to call the print function of the application and capturing it as a TIF file. Installing Auto CAD on a Unity box is simply not an option I'm afraid since this will chew up resources when you rasterize, most notably it'll hit the CPU hard. This will need to be done from a desktop client if you want to send it out as a fax.

Most fax servers work along the same lines... they're going to want to have the application that generated the document on the box so the file can be converted properly in to a TIF. You will find some "WYSIWYG" print drivers that are supposed to handle all kinds of document types, but in general they look pretty poor compared to using the real McCoy.
