Forward-digits question with FXO ports and POTS dial-peer??

!

Please see the example below. My question is do I or do I not need to add

the forward-digits 7 to the following dial-peer?? The reason I ask is that on my 7940 phones sometimes a outbound call just hangs, no dialtone, no busy signal almost like my CME router doesn't know what to do with the dialed digits. Most times outbound calls are fine. I thought maybe NOT having the forward-digits command in the dial-peer might be causing the problem??

dial-peer voice 3 pots

description **Outbound line**

destination-pattern 9[2-9]......

port 0/1/0

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Re: Forward-digits question with FXO ports and POTS dial-peer??

You do not need to add it as only the explicitly matched digits get dicarded on pots dial-peers, in your case the 9 and the 7 digits are send to PSTN. Your issue could be due to some overlapping dial-peers, make sure you have no overlapping ones.

Re: Forward-digits question with FXO ports and POTS dial-peer??

Hi, thanks for responding. I have included my dial-peers for my configuration below. I do not see where they are overlapping. Could you take a quick look and give me a clue if I am missing something??

Thanks in advance,

Re: Forward-digits question with FXO ports and POTS dial-peer??

Dial-peer 5 with destination-pattern of 9T is your issue, what is the purpose of this one?

If you need a long distance and international dila-peers then create:

dial-peer voice 5 pots

destination-pattern 91[2-9]..[2-9]......

forward-digits 11

port 0/3/0

dial-peer voice 6 pots

destination-pattern 9011T

prefix 011

port 0/3/0
