Our Public Works Agency is a domain within Sacramento County's Active Directory forest (with a mixture of Exchange 5.5 and 2000). Our GAL contains about 10,000 entries. There will be a change to Sacramento County's Exchange 5.5 GAL, modifying the display name from Lastname Comma Space Firstname (Kavan, Ginger) to Lastname Period Space Firstname (Kavan. Ginger). The purpose for the change is to fix a problem in Active Directory that does not allow UserIds from other domains to populate AD Groups. I'm wondering if this change will impact Unity in any way.

Ginger

Changing the display name in the directory shouldn't cause Unity any problems. We'll pick up the change when it comes around and pull the new display name into SQL. We don't do anything with the display name other than show it in the SA and reports... the first and last name are the fields used to generate the DTMF mappings for lookups over the phone.
Of course if you're creating new users via the SA you'll want to be sure to change the display name rules Unity uses. If you're only importing subscribers from standing accounts in the directory this isn't a concern...
