H323 gateways

Under what situations and on which interfacces are the h323-gateway commands required to configure an h323 gateway. We have a Cisco 3745 with dial-peer to a remote Call Manager.

Re: H323 gateways

I'm assuming you are connecting a PSTN service to your 3745, ISDN2/30 and using it as a PSTN gateway.

These h323-gateway commands define the source address that will be used by the h323 gateway. This is also the address you use when configuring the gateway on the call manager.

interface Loopback0

ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.255

h323-gateway voip interface

h323-gateway voip bind srcaddr 10.1.1.1

Using loopback ensures the interface is always available and allows you to define new IP address space for your gateways if required.
