Headset issue

7960G. Headset is GN 2125 NC. Hello Direct says they are compatable but microphone is VERY quiet. Tried switching with headset and have same issue. All 7960's in our office have this issue. On a totally different phone, headset works fine. Am I missing something or do I need to go with a totally different model.

Hi Len,

With many headsets and Cisco phones you need a different cord than what comes with the Headset (not unusual and usually pretty cheap $) It looks like the 2125 NC ships with the Cord Model# 8800-01 (Part#1003945) and with the 7960 you need Cord Model# 8800-02 (Part#27361101) The GN 2125 NCD-02 comes with the correct cord it looks like.

Plantronics headsets which we use require a special cord as well :)

It looks like this headset may require external amplifier. I read about them, and everybody claims different features for the same model. However it looks like nobody really tells that it works with Cisco phones without amplifier. Also, where do you connect it? To the Headset port? Cisco has different signaling for Headset and Handset ports.
