Help,Phone 7940 automatically going to speaker

when I lift the handset I can't get a dial tone unless I hit 0 and then dial. With another phone for instance, you can just pick up and dial the number straight away. When I do dial out on my phone it automatically goes into speaker mode and when I hit the speaker but to turn it off the call gets terminated. Very strange!??

I am using Callmanager express.

Any idea about this problem? Thanks in advance.
