HIDS Agent and Console for CM

Hello..

I bought Cisco HIDS when I got my call managers and had to reinstall them between then and now so HIDS is currently not on the CMs.

I was wondering whether it would be preferable to have the HIDS console off the CMs as opposed to on the Publisher. The company that installed my CMs installed the Console on the Publisher - but after taking some CIPT courses I was thinking that might not be the best idea.

Any opinions on this? I suppose I could install the Console on another unit and install the 3 WWW licenses I have on the Pub, Sub, and Unity boxes..

I think you are on the right track by moving the console off of the publisher. Although we don't use the HIDS on our CCMs, a couple of our customers have reported problems with the console locking up if there are too many alarms, which can happen if the HIDS is not finely tuned.
