To set up PLAR for an IP phone do the following:

1) Create a new partition called “Hotline”.

2) Create a calling search space called “Hotline-CSS”.

3) Move the partition “Hotline” into the “Hotline-CSS” calling search space.

4) Create a new translation pattern. Leave the pattern itself blank, select “Hotline” as partition, and specify a calling search space that contains the number that the PLAR phone needs to dial. Enter the destination number in the “Called Party Transformation Mask” field.

5) On the IP phone that needs to become a PLAR phone, set the “Calling Search Space” field to “Hotline-CSS”.

6) Update the configuration and reset the phone for the changes to take effect.

The rationale for this configuration is the following: the PLAR phone is forced to search a partition (“Hotline”) which is tied to a single translation pattern that has no digits. When the handset is lifted, the empty pattern is matched, and the translation is applied. This causes CallManager to dial the number specified in the “Called Party Transformation Mask” field on the translation pattern page.

Thanks,

Jordy
