How to route external calls to Auto Attendant

I am trying to set up unity auto attendant to answer all calls from the companies main phone # and then depending on the time of day either route them to the guard are the operator. Are there any template for this type of unity configuration

Re: How to route external calls to Auto Attendant

There's no "templates" per se, but this is pretty easy to do with Unity.

Create a new call handler called "Guard House". There's already an operator call handler that's built by default so I'm assuming you can use that one for the operator. Set both call handlers up to transfer to the phone numbers you want them to. The easiest way to do this is to activate the "alternate" transfer rule which means ALL calls to that call handler regardless of the time of day will ring the phone you specify.

Then go to the Opening Greeting call handler and record the standard greeting (the one that plays during the work hours defined by the schedule the call handler is assigned to... 8am to 5pm by default) to play a greeting and then set the after greeting action to go to the operator call handler. You'd then record a different after hours greeting (which plays when the schedule for the opening greeting call handler is not active) and set it's after greeting action to go to the "guard house" call handler you created above.

be sure to use the "attempt transfer for" link to the call handler and not the default "send to greeting". The send to greeting will skip trying to ring the phone which is presumably not what you want here.
