Because bandwidth to India is dear - I decided to try and transcode voice traffic down to g.729. I set up a new region and etc and reset the phones. Voice is still working. But how can I tell whether if the call if g.711 or g.729 in fact?
If your phones are IP Phones like 7940/7960/7910, they support G729 and no transcoder will be invoked. In the 7940/7960 phones, when a call is active, by pressing the 'i' button twice, you can see what codec is being used.
