HTTP 500 Internal Server Error for SA

I have a new Unity install (4.0(3)) for a customer and whenever I try to access the SA or status monitor, I get an HTTP 500 error in IE. This happens whether I am accessing it from the Unity server or from another PC. All computers are running IE 6.

If I just click on the "System Administration" link on the desktop, I immediately get that error. If I plug in the IP address of the machine or FQDN, I will be prompted for the Unity administrator account information, which I enter. As soon as I click "OK", I get the HTTP 500 message.

As a side note, I was able to log in to the Unity PCA using the administrator account but there were no options on the page.

Any ideas?

Try pinging your hostname from commmand-prompt on the Unity server. Perhaps you have an entry in your hosts or lmhosts that is pointing to the wrong address.

Is this a standalone Unity server in it's own domain? If yes, follow this MS doc to configure your DC

One more thing you can try:

1) ping Unity from a workstation.

If you are able to ping unity server, go to step 3)

2) Open hosts file on your workstation. Create an entry for the unity server by hostname only

3) open webpage and enter http://unityserver/saweb. Does it work?

I am able to ping the server by name. I added the entry to the hosts file but am still having the same problem.
