All h323 gateways show a status of unknown. that should be fine.
If you have already assigned the gateways to a route-pattern, you wont be able to add them in a route group.
What you can do is,
a. create a dummy h323 gateway.
b. during downtime window, repoint all RPatterns to this gateway.
c. create new route group/ route list and add the free'd up h323 gateways to this group.
d. repoint back all route patterns to this route-list.
