The step limit has a default of 1000 per script execution. If a script is run and it executes 1000 steps it will be aborted. This value can be changed on the Engine Configuration page in AppAdmin. This limit is intended to keep scripts from running forever. Also take into account the bug CSCea23060 if you are working with large number of scripts.
