I am trying to configure ICM 4.6.1 in duplex mode. But the routers are not getting synchronized.I want to know how to configure the private and the visible network for this.Is it necessary to have a private ip addess ?If so how to configure this .
It is necessary to have private IP addresses (and high priority IP addresses), but these are just additional IP addresses assigned to the network cards in the ICM servers.
The best way to approach this is to create a HOSTS and LMHOSTS file for all of the Private & Public, High & Low Priority addresses you need, then when you run through ICM Router setup, ensure that you enter the correct hostnames when entering the values for Router A/B private, private high etc.
If you run dumplog for the router processes on each server, you'll soon see if the process is failing due to network config issues, as you will see WSECONNECT error messages.
So Side A and Side B router processes are working fine, and you can ping all of the private, public, private high etc. addresses defined in ICM setup from each of the routers. When do you get the error message? Is it straight after the process starts up? Do you have any PG's configured, and their DMP addresses set in router setup?
The ports used for high priority traffic are:
TCP : If the source address is the local CallRouters high priority address or the destination address is the other CallRouters high priority address.
UDP : If source or destination port number is in the range 3900039999.

The below trick might come handy when you have to add a new node to a cluster but you don't have or is unsure of the security password for the publisher. This procedure has been around for ages.
1) Login into the CLI of the Publisher.
