* Inbound IP Fax routing app available for Unity *
The Customer Applications Team release the IP Fax Configuration Wizard for Unity 3.1(1) and later today. This is a free (not yet TAC supported) tool you can download off AnswerMonkey.net at:

http://www.answermonkey.net/App_IPFaxConfigurationWizard.htm

Short story, free IP inbound fax routing with gateway equipment you already have. No 3rd party fax boxes/equipment needed, no charge for the Unity service.

With the release of 12.2.8T from the IOS folks, it's now possible to do some simple gateway configuration to have all inbound faxes sent to a single mailbox with the DID and ANI information tucked nicely in the subject line. Ken's written a service (and a snappy configuration wizard for it) that watches a mailbox (i.e. the one you configure IOS to send faxes to) and will route inbound faxes to subscribers all fixed up with the appropriate message class and media flags to be picked up as a fax over the phone interface and from the desktop. Check the page above for information about which platforms are supported and some basic configuration information for your gateways. A big thanks to Markus Schneider for testing this out against all the gateways and writing up the configuration instructions for us.

NOTE: This does require DID numbers to be defined for each user for inbound fax routing. CNG routing is a bit down the road and will require changes is several folks' stuff (Unity, IOS and CM).

NOTE 2: Outbound faxing is being investigated but there's work to be done external to Unity to make this fly so this wont be coming out in the short term. We're working on it though...

Jeff Lindborg
Unity Technical Lead/Answer Monkey
Cisco Systems
email@example.com
http://www.AnswerMonkey.net (new page for Unity support tools and scripts)
