Inline power controller error on 3550-24PWR

Several IP Phones reboot multiple times. I checked the log file of 3550-24PWR which is the phones connected and found error message like

*Mar 2 11:50:16: %ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ERR: Controller port error, Interface Fa0/3: Power given, but link is not up

*Mar 2 11:42:41: %ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_ERR: Controller error, Controller number 2: has been reset unexpectedly or s2w bus err

Is that mean there is some hardware issue with this switch? or IOS issue?

Re: Inline power controller error on 3550-24PWR

1. the speed/duplex setting is not matched to inline-power speed/duplex

setting, so link will never be up.

2. If the device connected to the switch is not qa IEEE phone, nor is a Cisco (IP) PD, but

it causes a "look-back" which will be detected as "cisco PD" and power is given, but link will never up.

3. You may need to upgrade the switch IOS to 12.1(14)EA1.
