Inline Power to phone

Hi guys,

Something really strange happened last week. I use the C3524-PWR-XL-EN on my network so that I have inline power to my IP phones. I noticed last week that the port in question no longer supplied power to the phone.

I checked the port through the IOS and found out that it thought the attached device was unknown. I also tested the port for ethernet connectivity. It still communicates properly. The only problem is the lack of power.

Has someone else seen this happen before? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Did your XL switch reboot by anychance? Do a sh ver and look for the uptime. Also what kind of IP phones did you have issues with? What software version and what speed/duplex configuration do you have on switchports? Look at the following 2 bugs
