install stoped dead

I am installing Unity 3.1.2 with exchange off box. The install is stoped although the icon shows in the taskbar, it is not showing under taskman. The last I heard from Unity was the AvMiu_MC in the event viewer indicating that the computer may not have the necessary DLL to display messages from a remote computer and the following information is part of the event: 12. Seems that antivirus slows down the install. Uninstalling The Mc prod allowed the install to go forth.

Yeah this is a common error. Our installation guide talks about it:
