Why do the lamp on and lamp off requests show up italicized in the Raw Serial Data window of Integration Monitor?

We are running Unity 2.4.6.102.
Serial integration to an InteComm E14 Millenium PBX.

We are troubleshooting a nagging MWI problem where we see a lamp on/off command go out from Unity in Integration Monitor but the PBX does nothing with it. Fingers are pointing in all directions on this one and I need to gather some ammo, um, I mean, information before the next meeting. Any thoughts are appreciated.

David Stephens
Pepperdine University

David Stephens
Pepperdine University

Since you're viewing the RAW serial data, you'll see all packets on the wire. Italics indicate outbound data packets, or information Unity sends to the switch. Non-italicized text is inbound information being sent by the phone system to Unity. Lamps are generally the only outbound operation you'll see from Unity.

Sometimes we test SIO functionality by putting a loop-back tester on the serial port or cable and sending a lamp request. When doing a loop-back test you should see the outbound packet in italics, followed by a matching inbound packet.
