Hope you can help please. We recently installed two 2851 routers on a single point to point T1 between two offices and all is fine. We are using a 2950 switch and plugging all laptops and MITEL ip phones in the remote location. IP phones are not communicating, do I need to add IOS commands for the IP phone and if so which one's please. Thanks in advance
You would normally configure the ports that IP phones connect to with the 'switchport voice vlan x' command - this enables the phones to connect to the voice VLAN.
When the phones start up, they connect to the default (access/native) VLAN, and request DHCP options from the DHCP server. These options tell the phone which VLAN is the voice VLAN, they then reboot into the voice VLAN.
Other options from DHCP tell the phones the IP address of the Mitel ICP etc.
Do your phones actually connect to the mitel? or just fail to complete startup?

answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
