Hi David .... it sounds like you are running into a problem called "clipping" which cuts off the audio due to the sensitivity of the microphone.In a noisy environment you will probably need to use headsets with a "noise cancelling" feature built in. This will filter out the background noise from the plant that is causing the "clipping".
