IP Communicator QoS

IP Communicator has this feature "QoS IP Precedence (DSCP) Audio Priority". What does it mean? Does it mean that the voice packets from the IP communicator will be tag with a DSCP value. If yes, whats the value for the DSCP ?

Thanks

Re: IP Communicator QoS

Yes, like other Cisco IP phone IP communicator will tage the RTP stream with DSCP of EF (46) and SCCP traffic with DSCP CS3 in CCM 4.0+. Keep in mind however that in order for the network to recognize these markings the switchport where the IP comminicator connects to has to have trust bundries extended to the PC instead of just the phone, otherwise it will not honour the markings.

Re: IP Communicator QoS

If I have IP Phone and PC ( with IP communicator ) running on same port , does extednding trust boundery to PC would cause any issue ?

Re: IP Communicator QoS

No, all it will do is trust the PC, since most NIC cards these days allow you to change QoS values this is not desired option for all users, but for IP communicator you need to do an exception.
