IP intermittent issue

Hi guys

i encounter intermittent result when pinging to switch CAT6

the result i had was !.!.!.!.! when pinging frm my 7200 router and vice versa.and its consistent.

is this something to do with routing , or physical layer issue?cos my router is directly connected to the CAT6, which i dont have control over (its somebody else switch)

at my side, default route will go to CAT6 and i've checked at the other side,my IP range is opened.looks ok.

should there be any additional routing, be it frm my router, or frm the CAT6?

thx in advance

brendan

Re: IP intermittent issue

not sure of the problem you are attempting to describe. please describe problem further.

the result !!!!! is good. this means the pings were successful and ip connectivity is OK.

please clarify the problem/symptoms you are having.

The pattern of !.!.!.!.! suggests that it is not a physical layer issue but is more likely to be a routing issue. When you ping and every other packet consistently fails it suggests that the router has two routes to the destination but only one of them works. Can you post the output of show ip route on the router?
