IP Phone connected to Compaq LAN Ethernet Injector 6-port for power
I have a customer that has a Compaq LAN Ethernet Injector which is a "Power over Ethernet" concept used to connect wireless access point devices. My customer has a Catalyst switch that doesn't provide inline power to an IP 7960 Phone. So, he was hoping the LAN Ethernet injector could be connected to the Catalyst on one side of the injector hub and the IP 7960 Phone on the other side to provide power. However, when he did this, it did not work. I believe that this is most likely incompatible. But, I thought I would give it a shot to see if there is a way to make this work.
